This Eden

thiseden.com – What is it? Why is it? When did it all start? Where did it come from? Where will it go? How , etc, etc?

So many questions, so little space.

This Eden is our second web site (Song Of The Siren was the first) and it launched on March 4th 2008. The main aim of the site is to give people the opportunity to buy products for themselves and their friends that are all either, natural or organically produced or fairly and ethically traded. We’ve been very fussy about the items in our catalogue and have spent a lot of time getting just the items we wanted. Some suppliers have been surprised how picky we’ve been. Just one small sniff of a Paraben and the product did not make it!

This blog is to keep you up to date with all the latest about the site. How we go about finding the products that we sell and how we go about putting them on the web.

It’s also going to be about ‘us’. I know that sounds a little pretentious. Why would people want to know about us? The answer is simple. We are a small family (Jo, Mark and Alex aged 5), just like any other family in the UK. However, we’re a little bit different. If you want to know what makes us just a little bit different check out www.makingitbetter.org.uk

Since all this happened we’ve had a dream. It’s just a small dream and it’s the same dream that many families, just like us, have. To be able to say that we’ve contributed just something very small to the world. Nothing on the grand scale of a Nobel Prize winner, just something small, but something that’s made a difference to somebody somewhere. And we want to be able to make a living for ourselves and not the ‘men in grey’ and have fun while we’re doing it. (That’s the difficult bit of the dream!)

I always think that you go to work for two reasons:

1: To have some fun with the people you’re working with

2:To make some money to have fun with the people you love

Wouldn’t it be great if you could work with the people you love?! How much easier would it be to get up in the morning and how much better would it be for our state of mind? (Ah, more questions….)

So, we decided to try things we’d never tried before. We decided to take our skills and put them to use for ourselves (for a change!). We decided that the time was right to change and we decided that we were up for a challenge. We’ve had great support from our families and friends over the years (thank you) and this blog will be our story…
